Unable to import Excel which is exported by other Flexsim model.

Hi there,

I'm getting below error, when I exported a excel file from Flexsim model, and trying to import that excel in other Flexsim model. But Excel import function works for other excel files like SAP exported excel files.

The Error message:

Are you able to upload your model and workbook?

@Shibananda C2, is the excel file closed by the other FlexSim instance? If a different process has still privileges to an opened file, you do not get access to it. You can create a copy and work with it.

I restarted my PC and tried to import, still I'm getting same error.

In windows I enabled show hidden files option, to check when the excel file will open.

(When excel file is opened a temp file with same file name will create, I was observing during this during Flexsim import). And also tried by enabling and disabling DDE (When other applications use Dynamic Data Exchange) option in excel file.

One more thing I observed, after when Flexsim try to import these excel (only Flexsim exported excel file), If I try to open excel it shows blue blank screen. It seems like there is aproblem with Flexsim exported excel.

Hello @Shibananda C2,

I am not able to replicate your issue. I created a sample model where a processor records to a global table when an item enters the processor. The information written to the global table is formatted so that it could be used in a source. I exported this data and then imported it to a schedule source.

ExportAndImportTest.fsm

TestExportANDImport.xlsx

If you cannot provide your original model and excel file that you are having issues with can you try replicating your issue in another model? It might even be helpful to try out my model by clearing the source and excel file and then see if you can export and import without issue.
