Why do I get the error message “Error updating cached Excel Data”?

error_message.jpg

Auftragspools_1.xlsx

1.fsm

As I read in the other post the problem could be the size or the formatting. Error while importing excel data - FlexSim Community
But the excel sheet name is the same in the workbook and the import tool, the size of the import file is 22 kb and there are no empty cells in it. So what else could be the issue?

Thanks in advance for your support!

Hello Svenja,

I was not able to replicate your problem. Import worked perfectly fine in V23.0 and 23.1. I just had to change the file name in the Excel interface to the one you attached to your post. I used the "Import" button within the Excel interface to start the import. Did you do anything differently to provoke this error?

Dear Ralf,

thank you for your fast answer. I tried again with file auftragspools-1.xlsx, which worked as you said and I don't know why it worked now.

Then I tried again with the second file, I attach here Auftragspools_2.xlsx and this does not work. Although I tried it the exact same way.

Hello Svenja,

Same thing for me, works without any problem.

So maybe I have some wrong configurations here? As you can see I still get the error message.error_message_2.jpg

Hi Svenja,

Whatever it is, it seems to be tied to your computer. It is not FlexSim or the Excel file itself causing the problem. @Jordan Johnson Do you have any idea how to help Svenja?

Unfortunately, I don't know why this error is happening. I could not replicate the issue on my computer either.

@Svenja , does this happen for any other spreadsheet on your PC? Does it happen if you use Very Fast instead of Automatic? If you copy the data from the original spreadsheet to a new one, do you have the issue? Also, is Excel closed when you try to import the data?

@Jordan Johnson, thanks for checking as well. I just tried a few things, e.g. using a copy of that excel file, which also didn't work.

Then I found the issue. After I imported the file with the wrong settings (e.g. starting row, use row headers...), I changed the settings an imported that same file again in the same global table. Then I got the error message.

But when I open a new global table for the import with the same excel file but different settings, I don't get the error message. I hope I have formulated it clearly and from my side we can close this post.

Thank you and @Ralf Gruber for your support!

Best regards and have a nice day,

Svenja
