Lab Automation Simulation using Flexsim Heathcare

New to flexsim. I am planning to build a simulator for Lab automation system. This system will be used to prepare, sort the samples and send to appropriate sample analyzers and help to identify congestions for given input#. The steps can change and would a mix and match and also flexibility to configure sub steps. Each step and sub step would have time, #samples/hour, distance between each step, time taken to travel,etc...Have to keep varying the various parameters till a desired throughput is achieved.I think flexsim healthcare is a good candidate for this. . Suggestions please.

FlexSim HC could possibly handle this type of model using the Item Class objects in the modeling object library, but if you are processing the samples in flexible sized batches, it can get complicated in a hurry. You may want to consider modeling this with the FlexSim Healthcare 2019 which is currently in Beta form because you have access to all the objects and process flow capability of the standard FlexSim software product as well as the healthcare specific objects.

If you are current on your software maintenance which it looks like you are if you're using FlexSim HC 5.3.10, then you can download and use the FlexSim 2019 version. Go to https://www.flexsim.com/ login with your username and password you used on the FlexSim Healthcare site, and then download and install FlexSim 2019 Update 1 (version 19.1.1).

Here's some general instructions we gave out to our beta testers...

Here's how to get started with beta testing:

  • Go to https://www.flexsim.com/account/#/downloads, log in to your FlexSim Account, and download + install FlexSim 2019 Update 1.
  • All licenses that are current to FlexSim HC 5.3.10 are able to be upgraded to use FlexSim 2019 Update 1—in fact, the license will work with both products, so no need to change anything around.
    • If you have any licensing issues, or if you require a temporary license for some reason, please let me know.
  • Once the software is open, go to File > Global Preferences, click on the Environment tab, and choose "Healthcare" from the Default Environment list, then click Apply and OK.

At this point, I highly recommend starting with a pair of videos that will introduce you to the new software:

Dashboard Overview: https://vimeo.com/340082244/744563154a

At the end of the first video, Cliff invites you to work through the tutorial found in the User Manual. You can either use the in-software User Manual, or our new online documentation:

Hi @Ravikumar E, @Cliff King

I am modeling a clinical lab and I'm having similar doubts. How do you managed to replicate (model) the sample analyzers? @Cliff King is there any library with this kind of equipment?

Thank you in advance!

Carolina
