Statistics Collectors and Calculated Table bugs and improvements

Statistics Collectors and Calculated Table bugs and improvements

@jordan.johnson - here are some bugs and improvement ideas for Statistics Collectors and Calculated Tables. We are using FlexSim 18.0.1.

Idea: It would be easier for users to develop Statistics Collectors if there was a "wizard" interface to guide users through each step. Most people in our training class are having issues developing these from scratch. This wouldn't replace the ability to manually develop Statistics Collectors, but would augment it.

Bug: Histograms that use Calculated Tables appear to show an erroneously high number of entries in the final bin. This happens when the calculated table is set to always update. By changing the calculated table to update manually, this doesn't happen.

Idea: The query field in Calculated Tables should have auto completion. Same goes for the Value field in the Statistics Collector... it shows some autocomplete values, but not everything it could.

Bug: Histogram colors on the chart don't always match the settings on the color tab under Properties.

Bug: Histogram sometimes does not display values.

Regan is our instructor so he should be able to provide additional information about these.

I have fixed a lot of bugs in the histogram for version 18.0.4 (not yet released). While they were not the exact bugs you mentioned, it would make sense to me if the fixes resolved the issues you reported.

Auto-complete (both for queries and for label values in the stats collector) is a great idea. It is on our dev list.

We are always seeking ways to improve ease of use, and this is true for the Statistics Collector, which is a highly flexible/configurable object. For now, to learn more about the Statistics Collector, you can drag out a Chart Template (any chart in a section with "template" in the name) and install it. This will expose the template's internal Statistics Collector and Calculated Table (if it has one), putting those objects in the toolbox.

Thanks Jordan! I'll take a closer look once 18.0.4 is released.
