Dissussion on FlexSim applications

Hello, as most posts in this forum, FlexSim is a modeling and analysis software especially good at solving manufacturing and material handling system constructions. Would like know if there's application that used FlexSim in allocating problems but doesn't actually need 3D model simulation because it's more like a math problem, just allocating resources to demand, and there is no dynamic factors interfere next events. I would like to know if there's application I can refer to. Thanks!

Here I would give an idea of my case:

We have Tools Requirement and Available tools, we actually don't care about details of how to process each steps, we just need to know how many total time unit is required, and how many time units all tools can provide.

* Required Tools:

Here I would simplify the example, but actually the product mix and step counts difference is rather complicated.

10 products, each products has different steps to go through, steps have different processing time. So here we would sum all processing time of all steps, and turn out to be Required tools.

* Available tools:

There are 10 tool types with different capability. Although 10 different tool types, they are all shared tools, which can produce all kinds of steps (the only difference between 10 types of tools is the speed). So here we would sum all manufacturing available time of all tools, and turn out to be Available tools.

* Loading

At the end: Required Tools divided by Available tools == Loading

If loading > 100%, it means we need more tool investment;

If loading < 100%, it means we now have enough capacity.
