Issue in importing Excel input sheet into flexsim model

Hi,

In the following attached model, I am facing a problem while importing the excel Input data.In my Excel input sheet "Product_Name" details are stored in string format but when i try to import into my flexsim model the "Product_Name" field is imported as Number format. I have used Automatic option to import the excel data from input sheet but even though I am facing this problem.

Note: The key thing which I am expecting is I want to import the format(string or number) as it is used in excel input sheet.

I have attached the sample model and my input sheet(input sheet in zip format) for your reference have a look at it.

sample-model.fsm

input-data.zip

Thank you.

This doesn't solve the issue but you can hilight the column, right click and assign data as string.

Thanks for your comment,

yes, you are correct but when I give my build flexsim model to my customer he use to test by importing different input data at that time he is facing this issue and he asks for fixing this issue. so I am expecting to solve this issue through the forum.

Did you try using the Values Only (very fast) option?

Here is what it says it does:

All data will be imported as defined by Excel (numbers or strings)

EDIT: @gilbert jerald

The problem is with your Excel sheet. Our Excel importer doesn't get the cell formatting but the actual data that a cell is storing. To make this work correctly you will have to convert that column to Text.

Using Format Cells... doesn't work. This answer from superuser.com is the best way I found:

How do I convert all the cells of an excel sheet to text?

Highlight the numbers and use the Data > Text to Columns command. In Page 1 of the wizard, choose the appropriate type (this will probably be Delimited). In Page 2, remove any column dividers that may have shown up to keep the data in one column. In Page 3, click Text under Column data format to indicate that this column is text.
