Windows Smart Screen Preventing Install

Hi getting blocked by windows installing V17 I was also unable to download and update from the V16 upgrade route. I was using the FlexSim x64 MSI file to install - you can bypass via More Info & Run Anyway but that is not ideal if it is having issues with Windows Security.

@michael.smith that is a mechanism to protect your system. Microsoft is getting conservative to let you install software from unknown distributors. I had the same issue with another software product. As long as you know that the software installer comes from the right distributor, you bypass the warning, as you described it. You will see this warning often. So you should get customed to this warning and the way to install software anyway.

Thanks for pointing this out, Michael.

I've uploaded signed versions of the MSI files that won't trigger the Windows SmartScreen.

The regular FlexSim installer (which includes both 32- and 64-bit versions) is signed with our secure certificate, and properly shows FlexSim as the publisher. This is the version that the vast majority of our users will install:

The separate .msi installation files are not signed, and so they show that the publisher is unknown:

@phil.bobo, @Matt Long,

Is this by design? Or should the .msi files be signed as well?

The msi files are supposed to be signed. I'll look into it.
