Mining Haulage Simulation Capability

Mining.PNG

Is flexsim is capable to execute Mining Haulage simulation as shown in image (reference youtube). There was one old post (https://www.flexsim.com/news/flexsim-partners-with-mining-giant-rpm-for-truck-haulage-simulation/) which says there is separate tool created with the help of flexsim. So I got little confuse...

FlexSim 24.1.0

@Vijay Sangrulkar, FlexSim engine is base of this tool. Features of this additional program are not available by FlexSim main suite.

Hi Vijay,

FlexSim is capable of simulating a mine haulage. I presume that you are trying to simulate an open-cast mine. An entire truck logistics network of a mine can be built with the help of Navigators in FlexSim like the network node and AGV module. You can bring in traffic junctions, traffic rules( priority for trucks), weighbridges, parking locations, excavation areas, dumping areas, truck breakdowns, shift timings, truck entry points truck exit points, etc.

Now you know the tools for road building and truck movement, and the next challenge is at what locations you place the road network. For this, you need the 3d layout from the customer. If they are not providing it, you need at least a 2d CAD layout of the entire network with z locations marked. From this, you can build the road. You may check out with .kmz file also to build the road network. Once you know the locations of the road. The road can be built programmatically or manually.

Another aspect that I have seen is the belt conveyors and bunkers. In the conveyors and bunkers, the material is bulk. For better visualization and statistics, I suggest Floworks by Talumis. Bcoz I found it difficult to use the default flexsim fluid library.

For the rail network, the AGV module will be sufficient.

If you are not looking at a detailed level of visualization/simulation as mentioned above. You may try using the GIS module.

Through the dashboard, you can record the mine performance measures like throughput, number of trucks used, traffic congestion, etc.

As @Joerg Vogel mentioned, HaulSim is a library developed from FlexSim to cater to the needs of mining simulation. Base FlexSim doesn't have these custom features and you have to build these.

Regards,

Arun KR
