More Version Button - Flexsim website

Hi,

I have a little problem with the button "More Version" to download old version of Flexsim on website.

I notice that this button sometimes not appears, despite I have a license yet.

When occurs this issue, I try to do the following steps to view the button:

- I open the download tab on Flexsim website, and the button is not visible;

- I open the License tab on Flexsim website;

- Finally I return in download tab and the button appears.


Why does this happen?

We updated our login about a year ago such that a user's licenses are no longer queried during the login process. The license lookup is quite slow compared to the rest of the systems we access, so in order to more quickly allow people to access the downloads page or other resources, we moved the license lookup so that it happens the first time you visit your licenses page.

The system doesn't know if your account is licensed until after the license lookup happens upon visiting your licenses page the first time after logging in. Because older software versions are only available to licensed users, when you visit the downloads page before visiting your licenses page, we don't yet know if you're a licensed user. So the process that you've discovered - first access your license view in order to then access the "more versions" button - is the right solution.

This year we've begun a complete rebuild of the user account section that should improve this and other aspects of licensing, downloads, profile, etc. We hope to launch that before year end.

I think this site feature can be more discoverable if "More versions" button were always visible, but redirected to the licenses page if a license check is required. Or if the button remained visible but was disabled, and there were a link suggesting to do a license check:
