Paint shop module

It would be more convenient to simulate paint shop, if flexsim would add paint shop module just like AGV, Warehouse etc.

Library may contain,

1. Paint shop conveyor

2. Load Bar ( with property of capacity of load bar in terms of volume and weight)

3. painting robot

Can you show us more, which processes act similar like a paint line. An AGV module has got more general character in comparison. A warehouse is a structure you find in logistic enterprises and factories. It is a common specialized object. If you can elaborate a bit where you can substitute this process, it would be easier to support your request. Thank you! Joerg

Isn't this request more about the robot and paint paths/visualization than the conveyor and its loading, and therefore not generalizable to other processes? FlexSim's conveyors should handle this already surely.

Hi @Jason Lightfoot , Yes conveyor help a bit not entirely, major challenge is to load object on load bar attached to conveyor. I have tried building paint shop by using conveyor and flow item but if we have to consider capacity constraint for volume and weight of load bar it getting very difficult to simulate.


I have attached POC model for paint shop in which i have load one item on load bar if load bar is free.


I need to upscale the model to load multiple item on load bar with different weight and volume and figure out combination of part to be load on load bar keeping weight, volume as constraint and optimize number of load bar


Currently working on 3 different paint shop project and in future it might be more.

Hi @Joerg Vogel

Every tier 1 or tier 2 company manufacturing plan have pain shop to paint part before and after assembly. We have 22 plant across world and all facility have paint shop.

Major industry have paint shop in manufacturing facility, such as Automobile, Auto ancillary , Machine Manufacturing Industry, Any industry working with sheet metal part.

@Nikhil R3, I have never said that there doesn’t exists many paint lines in factories. I worked in a car manufacture plant myself. I want to use this method for another purpose. For example a pathway of AGV module can be used for ships, air traffic, vehicle traffic (railway, streets). I am currently not able to imagine how a paint line module can do another process.

@Joerg Vogel I also dont know the use of paint line for other purpose, but at lease we can use it for paint system

It might be use for overhanging conveyor storage system where material store on hook attached to conveyor where there is space constraint
