Using the measurement tool in FlexSim, it's not easy to measure the exact distance between two points inside FlexSim. The level of accuracy of the distance between the two points depends on the points that we have selected in the Flexsim model. The following are the difficulties that I have faced
- Measuring Distance Parallel To an Axis
For instance, to measure the distance between the edges of two objects. The measuring tool will not give an accurate measurement. To overcome this difficulty, I have to use a visual tool to measure/check the distance between. Also , the line drawn by the measuring tool may not be parallel to an axis, which leads to an incorrect measurement
In the below picture, I get a measurement of 1.99 m
When using a visual tool , I get a value of 1.9 m which is more accurate
2. Measuring the Distance Between Items On a Conveyor
If I want to check the distance between two items of a conveyor. Using the measurement tool it will not be accurate. Still, we have to depend on visual tools to get a real picture of the distance between two points.
To solve these issues, an improvement in the measuring tool is required. Like the measuring tool in AutoCAD, which helps to measure the distances accurately. This tool is super important in visually validating simulation models where distance or space becomes a performance measure.
There are many other cases like the above-mentioned. Pls, share your thoughts on the same.
