Web Server issues - 'can't generate 3D view' error

start-new-instance-forever-error.png

fail-to-start-instance-on-the-server.png

@Ben Wilson and supporter.

I installed web server, iis setting and related program newly in the not bad hardware PC.

The PC has i7-8700K @3.7Ghz CPU, 48GB memory and Geforce GTX 1080 GPU. It ihas been used till now as my main flexsim running one.

After all program web server applications installed, using a client PC and uploading a demo model, and then selecting the uploaded model and then when starting the model....

The above screen of 'Starting new Instance' is forever. What is the problem in the PC server?

How can I fix it?

This problem is same with when running it in the localhost (server itself).

The flexsim 2022 is installed and it run without anyproblem as Stand Alone running.

It is a folder security / privilage problem?

P.S

I tried again and again using re-installation FlexSim web server application, URL rewrite, JS.node and iis node full application. And the folder prievilage is changed to anyone sharing also.

But the result of it is same with above.

It's too difficult (very very difficult) to make the IIS setting through installation process.

I finished to set again after re-installation all process including IIS and run some simple model.

But the warehouse_demo model of 2019 made can't be generated as 3D view with error message like below.

A very simple model can be done without any problem. Some big model stop while running.

I don't know the reason of it. Anyway I think FlexSim Web Server can't be used as Digital Twin monitoring features. Many issues need to be solved, I think.

I found flexsim web server features limitation. If anyone need some more opinions about my experiences and decisions to be explained, I want to hear about them.

Thanks.

Hi @David Seo,

Did you modify the text file in the folder with the Web Server program? That dictates which version of FlexSim is used within the Web Server instance (the default for the most recent version of the Web Server is 21.0). You can modify the version of FlexSim used, the file location of the models, and the user data directory (see images below). screenshot-2022-02-04-103957.pngscreenshot-2022-02-04-104013.png

Changing this may help to resolve your issues. Give this a try, and let us know if you have further questions or issues. Good luck!

@Ryan Clark

I solved the issue of 'fail to Start new Instance' after re-installation IIS, URL Rewrite, js-node etc and all related programs some times. And I have run two model instances via browser in client PC.

But I met a new error of 'can't generate 3D view' above.

If you asked the question about this new error above and want to know the configuration file modified....

I modified the configuration file like below;

Flexsim Program Directory: C:\Program Files\FlexSim 2022\program

Model Directory: D:\FlexSimWebServer\FlexSim 2022 Projects

Flexsim Data Directory: %AllUsersProfile%\FlexSim\FlexSim22.0

FlexSim 2022 and 2021 update 2 also have been installed in the server.

If these configuration is not activated, the simple model also can't be displayed via browser. But other models instances are generated without above error page.

The issue is the WAREHOUSE MODEL DEMO in the forum to show those result of 'not generating 3D view' error. I tested three models totally. Two models have some issues but they are displayed normally without above captured page. The warehouse model has Process Flow and other two models have not process flow.

The process Flow can give some issues like above?

Anyway I will test some more test.

I have two web server PCs ready for testing and installed IIS and all programs related.

Two web server show the web server page normally.

And I will try some more tests in TWO servers using some more models I have mode till now including my project models and then I will make you know the result of them totally.

My issue about 'can't generate 3D view' error has not been solved until now. I had described my trials about your question of configuration file. Did you read it yet?

I am waiting for your replying about it. Your web server has not any problem about the warehouse model? If so, what's wrong with my server?

WHen the error happens, what is the problem?

The "can't generate 3d view" error is an error that can be ignored by most users now. It is telling you that the server cannot render 3d for video streaming but this functionality is no longer needed since we moved to client side webGL rendering. We probably should just remove that check from the launch page.
