FlexSim Webserver not starting instances for model

webserver error.PNG

I have Flexsim educational license installed on my computer and working successfully. The model runs fine without the use of webserver. But when started in web server I get error message instantly showing "Failed to start instance on the server". I have checked submitted answers previously and configured all the paths for webserver configuration text file and also tried by starting with administrator permissions still the same error. My models are placed under documents and flexsim folder only.

@Ben Wilson @Joerg Vogel requesting to help on this issue. What can be the best way to debug or identify the cause of this issue.

Either it failed to create the process or it failed to register with the webserver after FlexSim opens.

We were able to troubleshoot this issue with a web meeting, and it seems like the webserver was timing out while waiting for FlexSim to open and load the model(s). The solution was to increase the value of the "Reply Timeout" line in the "flexsim webserver configuration.txt" file.

@vignesh.s, I can't remember if you had the configuration file set up to use the FlexSim Version Selector or not. But if the webserver is using the Version Selector, then you can try changing the configuration file to use the specific version of FlexSim you need instead, and that can make instances start/load faster.

Also, I know we looked at a few possible custom shape files that might be causing the models to open slowly. There are some "Guidelines for Creating Custom 3D Objects" in the user manual. You may be able to speed up the problematic models by making sure those imported files are following these guidelines:

https://docs.flexsim.com/en/21.2/Using3DObjects/CreatingCustomObjectsAnimations/CreatingCustomObjects/CreatingCustomObjects.html

At the very least, you can test to see if this is an issue by replacing any custom shapes with basic shapes and then trying to load the model (with and without the webserver). If the models load significantly faster with the basic shapes, then you may want to put some time into optimizing the custom shapes so things work better with the webserver.

Let us know if there are any more issues, especially if the webserver still seems to time out even after increasing the timeout line in the configuration file.
