As the number of workers increases, the number of production decreases.



Regarding the attached data.

I have created a FlexSim model where I can change the number of workers using a parameter table.


However, in this model, when I increase the number of workers, the number of items produced decreases by about 6.

It is strange that the number of items produced decreases when the number of workers increases.

Why does this happen?


I replicated the scenario 100 times using Experimenter, and the results were still the same.


What do I have to do to modify my model so that it will properly increase the production rate according to the number of workers?

More than two workers won't have an effect, because they only feed two machines.

Currently the dispatcher is set to "First Available", meaning most of the time, the first operator will transport the items. If you set it to "Shortest distance if available" each (of two) workers will essentially only feed one machine, slightly cutting down on travel distance and increasing the number of finished products to 738.

The probable reason for why the case with one worker is still "better" is the following:
When comparing the individual statistics of the processors between the cases, you will see that number 1 and 2 have reduced output in the case of only one worker.

However, this gets more than compensated, because if there is less input from those machines, the third machine produces more, as the timing between the red worker having to attend the fourth processor and needing to refill the third is better. Less often, he is busy working on an item from machine 1/2 while machine 3 needs a refill, thus slightly increasing the overall output.
