How to avoid accidental edits to a working model

Hypothetical Scenario: A user opens a large working model to run experiments/get inspiration from the process flow. They make accidental changes and unknowingly save the model, overwriting the working file.

  1. Is there a best practice to avoid such a situation?
  2. I noticed that making FlexSim files read-only does seem to work. Is there a way to automate/force this so that files are saved as read-only if the creator forgets this?
  3. Is there any way to take advantage of SharePoint/OneDrive here?
  4. Trying to solve this in the simplest way possible

Thanks!

Hi @Karan,

If your biggest issue is with the process flow being accidentally edited, I recommend turning off edit mode in the process flow properties. This will prevent anyone from editing the process flow until edit mode is turned back on.

I would also suggest if a file is being shared between multiple people, to keep multiple incremental saves so that in the case where the shared file is accidentally edited, there are other unedited files as well.

And in the 3D view you can toggle all objects as protected and/or unselectable using switch_noselect and switch_protected commands in a script.
