Bug/Oversight with Delete and Copy Group Members and A* Navigator - FlexSim HC

Hi all,

I followed these steps:

  1. Open the FlexSim HC environment.
  2. Create one object of each type (Location, Staff, Transport, Equipment and Multilocation).
  3. Add each object to a new group for its respective type.
  4. Create the A* Navigator and add all of the object as members.
  5. Create five parameters, each one referencing one of the groups I created earlier and selecting the operation Delete and Copy Group Members.

When I change the parameters for the Location and Equipment objects, the new objects are not added automatically as A* Navigator members. 1681138406977.png

If I change the parameter for the Multilocation object, an error pops up and the new objects are not added automatically as A* Navigator members.

Both the Staff and Transport objects are added correctly to the A* Navigator when the parameters are changed.

Should this be the normal behavior or is there something to be fixed with it?

Thanks!

Usually in an HC model you would use the Set Number in People Group option because the location of each object is more important and you often have individual objects set up uniquely (like different shift schedules). If you use that option, no objects are actually deleted so you don't run into any issues like this.

@Matthew Gillespie ,

I agree with you and I personally prefer to use that option, however, some people use the Delete and Copy Group Members, either because they're building something simple, where the new position can easily be set using the offset values, or because it's the way they learnt to manage the number of resources in a model.

I understand I should redirect to reference the parameter for "fixed locations" with the option you mentioned, but I believe the use of Delete and Copy Group members should be restricted to reference only mobile resources then to avoid these issues.
