What level of granularity/detail do you need?

A starting point might be creatng a unique ID for each part, and recording a timestamp at each step of its process and record any assembly's list of component IDs.

@Jason Lightfoot thank You for the answer.

I am looking for Goods In - Goods Out level of detail. So the components with certain Serial Numbers are coming IN to the warehouse (inventory) and than are going OUT from the warehouse. And are finally "attached" to the Final Product with the Final Product separate ID. And that connection can be traced back. By Final Product i mean device which is assembled from those parts.

Okay then my suggestion still applies. If you're actually nesting items withing one another then you wouldn't have to record the component ids until it's finished, but if you're destroying then as you go along then you'll want to record it against a 'root' component of the main assembly. This could just be a list of serial numbers or it could be a map of partnumbers to serial numbers. If you're preserving the assembled parts hierarchy you could also put a match on each assembly to store the serial numbers of the parts there instead.

I'd be interested to hear the value you expect to derive from doing this in the simulated system.
