CAD Import results in just a black square

I'm having difficulty setting a CAD floorplan. Any DXF that i try (even the simple HC tutorial file) gives me a black square on the 3D space and no layers to view.

Multiple FlexSim versions

I presume it's a setting on my PC but I cant find anything wrong.

Any tips?

Hi @Kenny Macleod - always a good idea to try an upgrade to your graphics driver's latest version.

Weird I have a similar problem but I just got a new computer so I thought maybe it's my graphics card. I can only open older .dwg files. Anything new I create I can't see in FlexSim. And I tried saving in older AutoCAD formats but it doesn't change anything.

Hey @Kenny Macleod, you indicated you are using 24.0.0, is that correct? If so, can you try upgrading to 24.0.6 and see if the issue persists? Do you see a similar issue with 24.1 or 24.2?

@Kenny Macleod The same problem has been existing quite some time. You should have no problem after the dxf is converted to dwg. There are converter available.

@Logan Gold David's response was hardly an answer it merely highlighted a problem.

Please confirm if FlexSim does not import dxf files and only imports dwg.
Is this a bug or a feature?

Yeah, importing .dxf files has been supported for a while I believe. I will say that generally speaking, I've seen people have more success with importing .dwg files than .dxf files. However, I've never seen an issue that's affected imported any .dxf files across multiple versions of FlexSim. Like you said, I wouldn't be surprised if there is some weird setting on your computer.

Have you installed the Autodesk Interop FlexSim Module by chance? I'm not aware of it affecting .dxf files, but I'm curious.

We've been able to replicate this issue, and I will submit something to the dev list. However, going forward, using .dwg files is honestly the best option when it comes down to it, because the process for importing .dwg files works better than the process for importing .dxf files in FlexSim.

Any program that is able to save a drawing as a .dxf file is most likely going to have the option to save it as a .dwg file, with .dwg most likely being the default way to save the drawing to begin with. And if someone doesn't have the ability to use whatever program a .dxf file was made with, there are options to convert .dxf files to .dwg.
