Upgrade from 17.0.4 to 17.0.5 fails

flexsim-install-bug.jpg

I have flexsim 17.0.5 installed but in the about i see that the content version is 17.0.4. All other engines are 17.0.5. How can i fix this? as you can see in the screenshot, the upgrade fails. Also trying to uninstall the flexsim 17.0.5 also fails.

In the right of the folder (C:\Program Files\FlexSim 2017) I have added "everyone" and given full access

It looks like your FlexSim installation has gotten into a corrupted state. I recommend the following:

  1. reboot computer
  2. use Windows add/remove programs to uninstall all versions of FlexSim
  3. reboot
  4. download a new installer of desired FlexSim version
  5. install normally from new download

If the uninstall fails, you may want to manually remove all FlexSim related files from the following locations (making sure that you don't have any of your own data in any of these locations first - you shouldn't, but just saying...):

  • C:\Program Files
  • C:\Program Files (x86)
  • C:\ProgramData
  • C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming

After removing all those files and folders, if you once again try using Windows to remove FlexSim, it should fail but give you the option to remove the FlexSim entry from the list of installed programs. Then reboot, download the desired installer, and install normally.

Let us know if you're still stuck, what you have tried, and how it failed.

Is it possible you can tell me in particular, what files the content version refers to? Maybe the problem is rights on one directory under C:\Program Files\FlexSim 2017? thx

The content version string is defined in the MAIN tree. It shows you what version of the MAIN and VIEW trees you have loaded. The MAIN tree is loaded from one of the following files:

FlexSim\program\defaultproject.fsx or FlexSim\program\defaultproject.fsp

Check to make sure you don’t have an old version of defaultproject.fsp in your Virtual Store:

C:\Users\<username>\Appdata\local\Virtual Store\Program Files\FlexSim 2017\program\defaultproject.fsp
