Dempirical distribution problem choosing the same value

dempirical.jpg

Hi!

I'm using the dempirical distribution for the processing time of an activity. The percetages sum up to 100. But it seems that only the highest number is always beeing chosen for the processing time (it is not the heighest percentage).

Thanks for the help!

@Mafalda N,

Could you post your model or a smaller re-creation of your model so that we can identify what might be causing the issue? The picture is nice, but doesn't quite give us all the information we need.

Sure! I've made some changes in between. I started using continuous distributions, because I didn't manage to make the simulation run properly with the empirical ones. So now you will see the process time in the acitivity exams with continous distributions. But you can still the empirical distributions in the global table. I would like to be able to implement them

Hi @Mafalda N,

There doesn't appear to be a sample model attached. Did you mean to attach one?

The first column of your table is storing the numbers as text data instead of number data. Right click on the header for the first column ("Col 1") and select Assign Number Data.

As you can see from the following screen capture showing the results of a simulation run of the attached test model, the dempirical distribution can successfully be used to model an activity process time. I would still suggest a continuous distribution or use of the cempirical distribution instead. I'm not sure why you had issues with your model, but until you post your model, we're not going to be able to tell.
