Evacuation in stairs

Hi guys, I'm doing an evacuation model, and I'm in doubt if it's possible to use A * on stairs, since they have an inclination. This is to represent the collisions between the people who are evacuating. It occurred to me to do it through a network of nodes, as shown in the image of nodes. Do you think it is the best option to do it this way?

You can flatten the scenario. You get results of a model that doesn't look like a real stairway. If you need several levels, put them on the same level and transfer the people items from a level exit instantly to the next level entrance. You get better results if the instantly connections are located where the items aren't blocked or the items are queued.

A* doesn't handle multiple floors currently, so I can't recommend using it for this purpose.
