Navigating within the layout.

No matter what I do I am always stuck at (0,0) of my initial project. Left clicking does not move me left right up or down, as I am just stuck on the initial location. I can zoom in and out, rotate around the plane but I can not move to different parts of the plane. I have tried this doing just left click, both left and right click, alt+left click, shift + left click, cntrl+left click. Nothing I do moves and I am always at my intiital location.

What version of FlexSim are you using? Have you tried opening different models?

Look at this article: Graphics Compatibility - Common Problems and Solutions

Particularly:

Symptom

  • The 3D grid appears, but does not respond to user interaction. You should be able to click and drag the grid to pan (left-click) and rotate (right-click) the view. Click the grid to select it then scroll your mouse wheel - this should zoom the 3D view in and out.

Solution

  1. Update your graphics driver to the latest version. This almost always solves graphics issues and is the preferred solution whenever possible. It enables the maximum performance from your graphics hardware and eliminates bugs and glitches in previous drivers. Check out HowToGeek.com's article for a primer on updating graphics drivers.

Always go directly to your graphics manufacturers website ( Intel, AMD, or Nvidia) to get the latest drivers for your graphics hardware. Do not trust that Windows Update always gives the latest graphics drivers - in fact it rarely does.

Not every user has the proper administrator privileges on their computer necessary to update drivers, so you may need to contact someone in your IT department for help.

Thank you for the responses it was a problem with graphics compatibility. It defaults to the 16 bit in the global settings but my computer needs 32 Bit Color Bit and Depth Buffer. Once I changed that it moves on left click. Thanks again.

I haven't heard of solving graphics issues by changing the requested color or depth bits.

What's your graphics card? Are you running on a virtual machine?

What does it say on the OpenGL line in Help > About FlexSim...?

Are you using a Legacy or Modern OpenGL Context in File > Global Preferences > Graphics?

Thanks for the info. We'll look into seeing if there's anything we can do from the FlexSim side to improve this.

@Erica B the same thing has been happening to me lately. I accidentally hit some keys and it gets stuck. To fix I go to the toolbar - View - Open Default Workspace to reset the view.

Thanks for the response. I tried this an still have no luck. If I open an example project I can goto different views by looking at the Views drop down. But once I'm at that view I'm still stuck at that position. I can zoom in and out, rotate the angle but can never change position .
