Operator Max speed, acceleration, decelaration settings

Hello,

I don't know what Max speed, Acceleration and Deceleration values should be used.

I am trying to model a human operator, walking in a shop floor environment.

My model is in [hour, meter]

I was guessing : 6km/h for speed --> 6000m/hour?

Thanks,

Marco

If you're trying to model the movements of an operator, why are you setting your model to [hour,meter]? What that means is that every time unit will be one hour. So at Run Time 1, the model will have progressed one hour. A lot of operator movements could have happened in that one hour. Unless you slowed the model run time WAY DOWN, you probably won't see any operator movements, or very little. Any reason why you set your time units to Hours? But I believe you calculation is correct. But for tracking operator movements, you may want to set your model to Seconds instead of hours.

Thanks.

Hi @Jeff Nordgren,

Thanks a lot for your answer. Reason I used hours, meter is because the process times involved in my production line are long (from 2 to 50+ hours per processor). So we don't really look at minutes, since it's a low volume mix. But do you recommend switching to minutes?

Indeed, I can barely see movements on the screen.

Thanks,

Marco

@Marco Casavecchia,

It really all depends on what you are trying to model. If you're trying to model product flow or product output or something similar, then Hours would be fine. If you're trying to model Operator movements or other transporter movements, then you would probably want to speed up the time units (seconds, minutes?). So, what information do you want from your model? That would be the determining factor for setting model parameters.

Thanks.

@Jeff Nordgren,

I need to model product flow and output. We are basically doing a VSM but in FlexSim. So I guess i'll stay with [hours] as the time units.

Thanks for your help.
