I'm not exactly sure the application you need, but instead of trying to "split" a single resource group between two locations, I would create different separate resource groups, but then add them all together as an "Alternate Resource Group." This can group multiple resource groups together into this alternate group, which you can reference in your patient tracks etc.

In fact, I came up with the same solution Sam did. Here's a model that I built some time ago to demonstrate the creation of an Alternate Group to share the same Staff members between two different floors.dual-staff-usage.fsm. I'm still working on creating conveyors!
