Assign PCI to Hourly Arrivals arrival schedule

I recently installed FlexSimHC to build a model for our emergency department, but I encountered this problem:

If I activate inter-arrival times, I can assign a distribution for each patient track/PCI. HOWEVER, when I activate Hourly Arrivals, I was unable to assign each patient track a different table.

Attached please find the model I built, would you please take a look and help me understand why the aforementioned issues happen?

Thank you very much, look forward to your reply!

Each Patient Arrivals object can only have one Hourly Arrivals table. If you want to have a separate table for each PCI and/or Track you'll need to add a separate arrivals object for each unique table you need.

Alternatively, depending on how you're modelling the arrivals. You could use a single table and put code in the PCI field that varies the PCI. For example, P(90, 1, 5, 2, 5, 3) would make it so 90% of the arrivals are PCI and PCI 2 and 3 only arrive 5% of the time each.

I would also like to suggest using the "Custom Arrivals Table". This arrival table has quickly become the most popular option for defining arrivals for an emergency department. Think of it as a much more flexible hourly arrivals table.

Some of the benefits of using the Custom Arrivals Table option are the following:

  1. You can define ALL of your PCI arrivals using a single table.
  2. You can define the number of arrivals across ANY time period (not just an hour).
  3. You are allowed to specify specific label values for any of the labels you've created for your patients in the PCI table.
  4. You can use expressions to define ANY of the entries (e.g. Acuity, PCI, Number of Arrivals, labels) other than the time period entries.
  5. You do not need to define the periods (i.e. rows) in chronological order, so you could define all your PCI 1 arrivals first, then your PCI 2 arrivals, and so on, if you wish.
  6. The time periods do not need to be mutually exclusive, even for a single PCI, so in other words, you can have overlapping time periods if that makes it easier to define your arrivals.
  7. The table can be first defined in Excel and then easily imported.
