Network Path Spline Bug?

Hi guys,

the 2020.0.2 model attached network-path-spline-bug-rg.fsm shows two pairs of network nodes, each connected with a curved path. Moving the spline points only works in the right network path. For the left network path, the spline points can't be clicked.

It appears, that this happens, because the spline points are in the area covered by the arrows.

Is this a bug?

Thanks

Ralf

From the angle of the camera, the spline point is in the exact position as the arrow on the left path. When you click, it thinks you are clicking on the arrows, not the spline point.

If you rotate the view slightly, then the spline points will be rotated slightly from the plane of the arrows, and you can select them. (This is what is happening when you reopen the 3D view as Jorg's comment suggested. You'll still get into this same issue again if you reset the view rotation so that you are looking straight down on the points.)

I'll add a case to the dev list to consider using polygon offset during selection draw of the spline points so that they are easier to select.

It isn't really a bug because it is behaving the way it was programmed to behave, but we could improve this code so that it is easier to select the spline points in this situation.

Hi Phil,

although it is like it is by design, and it is very easy just to change the arrow size to access the spline points, it is still not user friendly and an inexperienced user might struggle. Especially since it is not documented (well at least I didn't find it).

A fix would be great.

Thx
