Combi-Lift Style Transporter

Curious if a Combi-Lift style transporter can be added to the transporter library. A Combi as we know them in industry is a very common but unique material transporter typically used for moving long product such as I-Beams and bundles of pipes, for example. It works similar to a fork lift in that it has forks to lift and can drive forward and backward. It has the unique ability to drive sideways such that long material can be taken down aisleways and turning area can be reduced. I don't know how to create that motion but for using a crane logic perhaps (won't turn though...)

thoughts?

It sounds a little niche, but of course could be added. You can turn off the rotation of a transporter which would prevent the long load from swinging around and show the correct aisle movement.

Interesting. I wonder if that wound work with A* to prevent collisions into things with the load

Besides a custom created Taskexecuter you can combine features by moving taskexecuters into another. An AGV and an ASRS combined can fulfill a similar action. Obviously you must adjust shapes and decide when you move an item from one Taskexecuter into the other one.

A similar approach consists of a plane with network nodes, on which a transporter travels for load and unload action. This plane is moved into an AGV.

Another approach uses an additional animation in a simple Transporter. Transporter forks are rotated by 90 degrees. The animation will fulfill the transversal action for load and unload movement for the item in directions of the forks.
Edit: simple asrs from Basic TE from an old thread!
