FlexSim 2020 Update 1 keeps crashing on launch with Microsoft Surface Book 3

Hi,

I'm bothering you regarding the crash on launch with FlexSim. In my class, a few of us have Microsoft Surface Book 3 and those who have this version, keep crashing on launch.

Apparently the problem is related with internet.

When laptop is disconnected. It works and while it was running, I tried to reconnect and activate the license but it doesn't work.

The version is 20.1.3.capture.png

Hi @Ghadir S ,

FlexSim version 20.1.3 is affected by the bug listed in the article FlexSim installation or startup error - FlexSim Community under the heading "Update OpenSSL DLLs".

Upon release, everything with your version of FlexSim worked just fine, but at some point there was a Windows update that seems to have caused the version of OpenSSL shipped in versions of FlexSim prior to 20.2.0 to became incompatible and crash.

In order for your older version of FlexSim to work, you will need to resolve the issue with one of the two solutions listed there:

  • update your OpenSSL DLLs according to the instructions given
  • disable the start page

This part solved the crashing :

Alternate workaround: disconnect your computer from the Internet, both wired networks and Wi-Fi. Start FlexSim. Go to File > Global Preferences > Dynamic Content tab. Deactivate all of the options there. You can now reconnect to the Internet and FlexSim may work properly the next time you start the application.

This looks more like a problem with the setting of sleep states the book enters.
S1 to S4

please look for System Sleeping States

I'm going to learn regarding system sleeping state. But it's new.. I mean I never had this problem, anything related to sleeping state. I don't understand how sleeping state can be related to this problem.

Please let me know if this screenshot helps you to give me more indication.

I looked it up. I don't see how this software's problem can be related to sleeping state. :/
