create a pull system

Hello,

It is an open question but I cannot find anything about this.

I want to create a full pull system in my model. By full, I mean being able to give a demand table that should receive a sink, and then my model giving me when each object should start the process to arrive at such date at the sink.

My problem now is that I have the departure dates of each piece in my model, and I want to know when I should start the fabrication of each of these pieces to fullfil with the departure date.

Anything will be much appreciated to start working on this.

Thank you.

I have posted the idea to flexsim forum, as there is not a easy solution right now.

Have you considered simulating the process in reverse? Will require additional effort over creating a standard, 'forward' simulation.

The requirement from the business is to know when to start the fabrication of each item given a departure date.

How is this possible in flexsim?

And yes, I have done the reverse system already.

You treat the model start time as the completion time of the last item and from then on subtract the simulation time from the start to give you the 'effective' time. You say you've simulated it in reverse already, so not sure how you did it without this key concept.

I understand that I could do that, but then there is a lot of problems because when substracting it could give dates on weekends, that on "not reverse" mode it does not happen because of the time table configuration.

Is this the only way? Am I missing something?
