Just in case I'm missing something - I've installed the current express version - so the trial. Building some basic models from the tutorials, and trying to save it. For the sake of version control there should be a FlexSim XML file type available, but I'm not seeing it. Is it a limitation of the trial?

Yes - you need a license to save as xml. If you want to see how it works you can send us a model and describe how you'd like it split and we can send you the xml files, or contact your distributor for more support.
