FlowItem geometry

Hi. I have storage box geometry in .obj format that is used as FlowItem geometry. The original geometry has wrong orientation and size. I'm not able to edit the original geometry so I have to do it in FlexSim. I have tried to scale and rotate the geometry so that it would have size 1.2m x 1m x 0.79m but it is still floating or it has strange origin -> does not fit into rack. The box should fit into Rack position sized 1.3 x 1.1 x 0.9. Would you be able to modify the parameters as needed.

It would be nice if you could give "best practice" guidelines for importing the geometry and setting the scale/rotation parameters.

The behaviour of the object in the model depends solely on the yellow bounding box you see when you select the object. To have the FlowItem behave correctly, you should first reset the orientation and position of the bounding box and set its size according to your specifications.

Then you use the Shape Factors under "More Visuals" to tweak the orientation, size and position of the 3d shape until it fits into the bounding box.

Thanks @Felix Möhlmann . Now I was able to fix it. The crucial hint was the bounding box - I didn't know that the numbers under Visuals actually determine the bounding box and the geometry itself if scaled under more visuals. Makes sense.

I find the geometry handling a bit difficult in FlexSim as there is no clear origin to tie everything into. But this is just my opinion.

@Tomi Kosunen , there is something in manual about this topic:

https://docs.flexsim.com/en/23.0/Using3DObjects/CreatingCustomObjectsAnimations/CreatingCustomObjects/CreatingCustomObjects.html

You can notice from its design, that it is a very old content in the manual.
