Install FlexSim on Windows Server

One client asks us if we can install FlexSim on Windows Server.

Windows Server is not listed in the system requirements:

https://docs.flexsim.com/en/24.0/Reference/SystemRequirements/SystemRequirements.html

But some posts discuss about using Windows Server. This one is 8-years old:

https://answers.flexsim.com/questions/32067/install-flexsim-2016-in-windows-server-2012-r2.html

So I'm not going to rely on it.

And this post focuses on using FlexSim webserver:

https://answers.flexsim.com/questions/139246/webserver-on-windows-server-2022.html

What is the official statement from the dev team about installing FlexSim on Windows Server ? It can work but we don't officially support it ?

There's very little difference between Windows and Windows Server. Mostly just the set of default applications that are installed/configured and some minor differences in hardware limitations.

I've never seen or heard of any problems with running FlexSim on Windows Server.

We haven't actively tested against Windows Server since the release of Windows 10, when the desktop Windows installation started including all of the Windows Server software, albeit uninstalled by default. (You can install it via "Turn Windows features on or off" in the Control Panel.)

FlexSim's installer is free for anyone to download. If you want to know whether it works on a particular system, install it and find out.
