Task Executor Dispatching Strategies

I have a quick question related to the transporters.

Why does FlexSim use first available, round robin, shortest queue, and the other dispatching strategies for transporters? Is it because those strategies are commonly used in manufacturing and distribution industries? Or is there another reason for that?

These dispatching options cover a range of dispatching strategies that should cover most options that are used in the real world. See this screenshot of all the default Pass To options in a dispatcher (FlexSim 16.0.1):

Though it would be amazing if FlexSim could be all things to all people, its impossible to include every special, unique strategy in our pick lists. Inevitably someone will need to model a dispatching situation that is different from what our default options offer. We try to provide a range of broadly applicable options that will often cover all of a user's needs, but can't cover the universe of special cases.

In the situation where FlexSim doesn't quite offer what you need, in general you should pick one of the options that gets the closest to what you need to do, then examine the code . Look at how FlexSim has implemented its logic, then modify to fit your needs. If you get stuck, you can always come back to Answers to ask a new question :)
