I have nearly same problem as this question. If I want to import Excel tables with FlexSim 2016 I get the same error "OLE Automation Error" with "Failed to initialize Excel::_Application!". Up to FlexSim 7.7.4 we haven't any problems. I tried it on two computers, both with FlexSim 2016 16.1.2, Office 2007 and Windows 7 64bit with the same result. With 7.7.4 it still works fine on both computers. Any help is highly appreciated ;)
In FlexSim 2016, we changed the method that FlexSim uses to communicate with Excel in order to greatly decrease the amount of time it takes to import and export tables.
We tested the new import with Excel 2010, 2013, and 2016. We had not tested the new import with Excel 2007.
Now that you bring this up, we've dug up an old installer of Excel 2007 and installed it to test it. We are able to replicate your issue that Excel 2007 is not working with the newer, faster way of communicating with Excel.
The easiest solution would be to upgrade Excel.
