Flexsim on Citrix environment

Hello,

I got an inquiry whether Flexsim is compatible with Citrix. Has anyone tested this or seen such implementation? They wish to migrate the Flexsim apps from windows workstation to Citrix environment. And the user will work on the Citrix console.

I saw in the Brazil training it mentions Citrix Online?

Would appreciate to get some feedback on this.

Thanks,

Kat

If you are running FlexSim on a machine with no display, then Windows will only give FlexSim a generic OpenGL graphics context with no hardware GPU acceleration.

If your Citrix Environment is configured in this way, then FlexSim's 3D view will not render very quickly, objects will not cast shadows, and the default operator will not animate properly.

In order to run FlexSim well, you need OpenGL graphics hardware acceleration. Your Citrix Environment may or may not support that depending on how it is configured.

Hopefully others will chime in with their experience. This answer shouldn't be considered THE answer.

At FlexSim USA we use FlexSim with Citrix's GoToMeeting to do support or product demos. It works pretty well.

If the Citrix environment your client is interested in uses similar technology, FlexSim shouldn't have any problem working in this manner, other than the usual lag when logged in to remote systems.

One thing to note is that FlexSim's licensing has an option to allow remote usage. In other words, a particular license can be enabled/disabled to work across a remote session. You would want to make sure licenses for the Citrix environment have the remoting option enabled.

Thanks @Ben that's good news. Let's see whether someone else has good experience with it and then we will just go ahead and try.

Hello Katharina, I have a customer asking me if he can run FlexSim on a Citrix Server.

He wants his FlexSim developer to use that instead of a high performance laptop.

What do you know of your client's experience since the last post?

Thanks,
