Estimating the Equipment Availability

I wanted to simulate the machine breakdowns but the data that I have consists in the form of % uptime. For example, I have machine which I know is going to be running for 80% of the total running time and going to be down 20% of the time. Is there a way to capture this in the breakdowns dialog box without knowing the MTBF and MTTR?

The problem is that there really isn't enough information there to know how to inform the system of when to set the down time. For example, you could set your model so that after 4 units of active time, a machine goes down for 1 unit, and repeat that schedule. That gives you the same ratio of down time as saying that after 4000 units of running, go down for 1000 units. Or you could randomize it, after "duniform(0,400)" units, go down for "duniform(0,100)" seconds. Those are each basically equivalent percentages of downtime, but they will affect your model differently. The percentage of uptime doesn't give enough information to create any probability distributions for your model.
