Open FlexSim command help in a browser

I was trying to open FlexSim command help html in a browser but not successful. The opened page is blank. I tried various web browsers including IE 11, Chrome v55, and Firefox v47. The html files (for example commands.html) I tried to open is located at:

C:\Program Files\FlexSim 2017\help\Commands

This is probably due to xls support but I am wondering if anyone know how to open these files in a web browser?

Thanks,

Alan

FlexSim uses the xml and xsl files found in the Program Files directory you describe, and combines that data with commands from any loaded modules, as well as in-model user command documentation, to dynamically generate the html that is shown within the software.

You can access this dynamically generated html at the following location:

%PROGRAMDATA%\Flexsim

Just paste that in the address bar of your Windows File Explorer and go. Browse to your version of FlexSim, then the help directory. You should find the dynamically generated commands html files there.

The dynamically generated help files won't exist until you've opened FlexSim and viewed the help within the software. This generates the files. A brand new installation of FlexSim will not yet have those files.

The FlexSim commands and command helper are actually written as XML files, so the browser won't just read them if you open it directly. If you need a "web-based" version of the commands, you can find a page here on answers that has a reference to all the commands:

Thank you, Sam. It is good to know there is an online version of command help.

Hi @Sam Stubbs

It is good to have a web-based version of the commands, but in my opinion it is hard to find the correct commands as the search finds all the posts with the command names in them. Is it possible to search only for the commands somehow?

Thanks!

Axel
