Hi @david.chan,

There is no problem with hosting your license server with a 3rd party cloud hosting provider, such as Amazon and others.

The server software (lmadmin/lmtools) doesn't care where it's installed, as long as it is on a Windows system meeting the license server system requirements.

Although lmadmin/lmtools support many different operating system platforms, FlexSim's flexsimserveractutil.exe is a Windows-only program, thus to install and configure a License Server for hosting your FlexSim licenses, a Windows server is required.

The other firewall and networking considerations apply. Client PC FlexSim installations need to be able to communicate with the license server over the licensing ports configured during the installation/setup of the server.

This other Q&A dives into more of that sort of discussion.

An additional note about using a "cloud" server:

If your cloud server works by creating and destroying new instances of a virtual machine each time you boot it, then it isn't going to work as a Flexnet license server.

You need to use a stable, persistent server that the clients can remain connected to.
