I have Flexsim Developer license installed on my computer. I tried running Flexsim Web Server and start a new instance of model, it always return with error "Cannot start the model . And on the model it will have "exception: Flexsim 2016Save before exiting?". Though the model runs fine without the use of webserver.What needs to be done in order to get the model to run in the web server?

Hi, @pc neo, you have read all posts, questions and answers if you use the light grey search field on top of the page described with "Find posts, topics, and users" and sarch for the keyword "webserver"? If you give us a bit more info, what your configuration looks like, what webserver is running on your machine, and what answers you have tried onto your own setup, would help us to give you a detailed answer to your question. Many thanks for your patience.

Thank you for the reply.

I'm trying out flexisim webserver following the description in the user manual. The steps I've taken are as below (all are done on the same computer):

a) start flexsimserver.exe from program directory of FlexSim 2016 Update 2 in C:\program files directory

b) start IE 11.0 with http://127.0.0.1/ address

c) Select an available model, click on "Start new instance".

Then the error will pop up at the browser end "Starting model on the server failed". Though on my computer I can see the Flexsim 2016 update 2 being started with the model, and there is an error shown in the System Console "exception: FlexSim 2016Save before exiting?".

The same model can be started up successfully when not used with webserver.

@pc neo,

Sounds like a permissions issue. You've modified the file "flexsim webserver configuration.txt" as specified in the instructions? Is your model directory somewhere in user space, like under your Documents directory, or on your Desktop?

Have you tried right-clicking flexsimserver.exe and choosing "Run as administrator"?

@Ben Wilson @Joerg Vogel The same issue I'm facing with some models. I have configured the flexsim webserver configuration text file correctly and pointed all the models to the routing directory which is placed under Documents\FlexSim 2021 Projects. Models works fine in FlexSim but when creating instance in web server getting error message "Failed to start instance of the server" attached error message.

Any assistance on this would be really helpful.

@vignesh.s When you started flexsimserver.exe, did you try the solution to right-click and choose "Run as administrator"? What happens when you do that?

Any additional details would be helpful.

On a sidenote, best practice would be to start a brand new question, rather than add a new comment to a years old question that already has an accepted answer. You can always link back to an old question from your new post. Starting a new question will get more attention, and also allow you to select the right FlexSim version and include important attachments directly to the top question. We track questions by whether they have an accepted answer, so if you want us to work with you until the end when you get your own accepted answer, please just start a new question.
