I'm trying to understand the difference between the behavior of "regular transporters on paths" vs AGVs on those same paths. I'm taking about the behavior difference in Flexsim, not in real life.
I have to model a factory to evaluate the impact of implementing AGVs instead of the current operator driven transporters. I was planning to build 2 models. The first one of the current system with transporters on paths and then another model with AGVs on paths instead.
The main differences between the 2 models will be: speed, load/unload times, distribution throughout the plant instead dedicated per zone.
So now I'm wondering if I really need 2 models to model the 2 scenarios or if I can't model both scenarios with the same model using AGVs instead of transporters. That would save me and my client a lot of time.
In other words, can I use AGVs to model the current operator driven transporters? What are the reasons not to?
