Experimenting with different model layouts

I am trying to build a model to test out two different floor plans. I have built out both models and saved the layouts. I have noticed that when I switch between model views the distance between the nodes does not update unless I save the model.

When I try to run experiments between the two models it does not appear that adjusted distances are being used. If I switch between the scenarios in the explore tab after running experiments there is no change to the distances between nodes, again leading me to believe the distances aren't changing.

Is there any way to force the software to recalculate the distances between nodes in between scenarios? Or do I need to save the model manually between different runs of the experimenter?

Thank you!

Hi Amelia, if the objects of the model don't change in the layouts, you could try to build both configurations in the same model. You can do that by going to View-->Model Layouts.
Then you can set it up as an experimenter variable and test the system with each layout applied. Maybe I didn't understood your question fully? If you post a sample model or screenshots, it would be easier to understand.

I do have two model layouts built. My issue is that when I switch between the two models the distance between the nodes does not update unless the model is saved. So two nodes that are now very close to one another still have a long "virtual distance." So when I run the new model it still shows patients and caregivers spending a lot of time in transit.

For example the distance between N2 and N94 does not update until the model is saved. It does not appear that the model is saved in between various runs of the experimenter so the distance between these nodes is not updated and no travel benefit is seen in the new layout.

You also can change the "virtual distance" which should overwrite your "current distance".
