Maybe you can tell us why you want to do this?

There is a scenario where I have 4 Xconveyers producing the material (taken in a bin) to be transferred to Input of 6 Yconveyers and from the output of these 6 Yconveyers material (again taken in a bin) need to be taken to another station which will consume these and produce empty bins from the other end. These empty bins are to taken to the area near the 4 Xconveyers producing the material. I want to use task executor to do this job.

To simulate this scenario, I am assuming 4 sources near 4 Xconveyers producing the material. 6 sources and 6 sinks at the input and output ends of 6 Yconveyers. Here I happen to connect 4 sources to each of the 6 sources as the source for the YConveyer is actually the sink for XConveyer. Where am I going wrong? Please help..

Ekta,

why would you have Sinks and Sources between the X- and YConveyors? You route the material directly from X to Y. Sources and Sinks are meant to be boundaries of the system you want to simulate, so in general there is no need to have them in between objects within your system.

I would suggest for you to work through the tutorial section of the user manual under Help/User Manual to get a better understanding of how FlexSim is used to model a system.

Feel free to come back here with any questions left unanswered.

Best wishes

@Ekta S

As @Matt Long states in his answer, only a Sink will act like a Sink. And if you connected two Sources as you describe, the upstream Source will be blocked and never create any flowitems and the downstream Source will still be a Source, not a Sink.

The Source does not have an input. It does not accept upstream flowitems. If you connect one source to another, the upstream source will be blocked. The Sink object will act as a sink.
