Object oriented?. Does an object (box, etc.) be composed of subobjects (and successively)? The same for robots and processes?

Hello,

I am comparing several discrete event simulation codes for a complex application involving robotic manipulators for remote maintenance of a large facility.

At what level is it possible with Flexim to model parts being manufactured (say a car, composed of motor, chasis, wheels, etc. and the wheels of tyre, rim, etc.)? For example to model their assembly and disassemble in individual parts and treat them.

It would be also interesting to be able to model a machine made of several robots defined as individual objects(robots). Is it possible in Flexim?

Thanks!.

Hi Vicente, FlexSim includes in it's basic libraries, objects like the combiner and separator that have predefined functions to join, batch, recycle or group components or assemblies. With this, you can manage the flow of this scenarios easily through a model.

Feel free to give us a call at FlexSim Iberia and we'll be happy to help you out.

@Vicente M. Queral Flexsim is completely object oriented so if you want to model every part of an assembly no problem. The underlying structure in Flexsim is a treestructure so you can put 1 part in another part and then copy that assembly in a different object etc.

But usually you don't have to go that deep and simply use the options as mentioned by Jörg and Marcello

To assemble parts and visualize the progress is done by exchanging the shape of the item. At each cycle or process step you have a different shape prepared in the 3D media. Then you activate the different shapes in the triggers of a processor or combiner.
