Long time to start flexsim

Hi,

before Christmas I installed FlexSim17.2.4 and without any problem used it (I don't remember if I use previous version).

After two weeks of holidays I needed to open an old model with previous Flexsim version (16.0.9) and I had some trouble during starting procedure. I had to wait few minutes before Flexsim starts correctly. Now the last installed Flexsim works perfectly, not the previous version one. I need to wait some minutes before opening start page in each previous version. Why? Does someone go through in similar issue?

I don't believe that Flexsim rebels after Christmas, but I believe that some window update or something similar impacts on starting procedure. I tried to start Flexsim in offline mode to avoid trouble related to connectivity without any positive effects.

Can Flexsim setup modify the behavior of other flexsim version?

Any suggestion is appreciated.

Hi @Jeff Nordgren,

my computer meets the proper specifications. Currently every flexsim version work perfectly, but only 17.2.4 starts immediatly. When I click twice on the icon, the widget appears but the application doesn't run. After some minutes (the time is variable) the application runs and works perfectly. Only the startup procedure is slow.

I would take a look at this post, and try some of these. Especially number 5, I think might help, but go through each of these and see if they can help improve the loading time.

FlexSim began to start up very slowly today for me as well. This happened immediately after a Windows update was supposed to take place (I have been unable to run the update because it breaks my entire system). It's slow during a systeminfo() call that happens when FlexSim is started. Unfortunately this is a Windows problem not a FlexSim problem. Make sure Windows is updated to the latest.

Hi @Matt Long,

do you have the problem for all software version? In my case the last installed one (17.2.4) starts normally, the previous one not.

In any case, do you find a workaround?

@Matt Long, could be possible that start up depends on installed licence type? I discovered that in the last version (17.2.4) I installed a standalone licence. In the other version the option "Use concurrent licencing" is active even if the licence server is switched off and the standalone licence works.

I tried to start FlexSim in offline mode, but the issue persists.

Looks like it's only 2018 for me. Doesn't matter what kind of license.

@Alessio Merlo

I would do as @Sam Stubbs suggested and take a look at the post in the link below. Number 5 might be one to take a look at. Here is the link to the post.

Hi @Jeff Nordgren and @Sam Stubbs,

unfortunately I had already read that post before contacting you, but I hadn't found any solution.

The last possible solution is to reinstall all versions, but I am not sure to solve the problem. As @Matt Long said, I believe that the issue depends on windows update or antivirus software, but I don't know where I can check it.
