how to define virtual distance between unit

Machine 1 16 1 1 25 1 1
Machine 2 8 1 1 30 1 1
Machines Cycle time (Mintues) Raw Material Storage Space ( Pick up Point)(Meters) Finished Storage Space ( Drop point)(Meters) Next Operator storage Location(Meters) Number of Operators working on the machine Forklift Number used on this machine
Machine 1 16 1 1 25 1 1
Machine 2 8 1 1 30 1 1
Machine 3 6 1 1 35 1 1

I have above condition ..how to specify distance in between two units..I am new in flexsim..using student version.

Pls help

If you do not change the unit, flexsim has the second, meter and liter unit as default.

So you can make the model in the operating default grid screen of flexsim as you want to set as your unit. It's same with the student version not difficult.

The default distance in the grid is one meter per one grid. So you can drag the machines at the point with the distance as 25, 30 and 35 meters. Though flexsim has the virtual distance feature, you can use the default unit not virtual distance between objects.

You can find the bold cross point in the grid operating screen. One bold line of int cross shows one meter. The source object size is about 0ne x one meter, exactly 1.06 x 1.06 meter.

The virtual distance is a feature in network paths. You have to build a path network. You drag and drop network nodes into the model. You drag a line between one node to another. You connect a machine with a network node by an object connection (type 'a'). You connect the transport vehicle or the operator doing the transport with the same connection type to a network. Then the object doing the transport is traveling on the network. I assume that you are already using transports to deliver the items. If you don't you must activate the option in the parameters of the objects which are sending flowitems. The support objects doing the transport are connected by an centerport connection as a reference to these stationary objects ('s' type). The virtual distance is a parameter in the properties of network nodes. You can set a different distances to each other connected network node that you mark in the list of destinations.

If you want exact statistical results you have to switch off the option "travel offset for load and unload task" in the properties of the participating task executers ( operators, vehicles).
