License Installation - Unable to activate Flexsim 18 License

Hello,

I tried to install floating license on our licence server and it fails.

I used lmtools, because we have others lmgrd processes serving licenses for other products (Autodesk, ...).

So I followed both "FlexSim License Server Installation" and "Hosting FlexSim Using lmtools" documentation.

And when I start the Flexim Service, I have the following error :

14:45:27 (flexsim) EXITING DUE TO SIGNAL 32 Exit reason 9
14:45:32 (lmgrd) flexsim exited with status 32 (Exited because another server was running)
14:45:32 (lmgrd) MULTIPLE "flexsim" license server systems running.
14:45:32 (lmgrd) Using Task Manager, stop flexsim and run lmreread
14:45:32 (lmgrd)
14:45:32 (lmgrd) This error probably results from:
14:45:32 (lmgrd) 1. Another copy of the license server manager (lmgrd) is running.
14:45:32 (lmgrd) 2. Another copy of the vendor daemon is running.
14:45:32 (lmgrd) 3. The locking mechanism(s) were removed by an
14:45:32 (lmgrd) outside program.
14:45:32 (lmgrd)

Could you please help me in solving this issue?

"exited because another server was running" suggests that either you already have another FlexSim vendor daemon running, or you have a port collision with another service.Try specifying custom ports in the license file. Write back if you need guidance on that.

Also, did you use the lmgrd and lmtools .exe files from FlexSim's LicenseServer.zip download? Other versions may not work.

Here is a list of some of the issues that we've experienced that can cause that error message:

  • There is actually another running instance of the FlexSim vendor daemon.
  • There is a port collision with another service - you should specify a different custom port for FlexSim licensing.
  • You have a folder name in the path identical to the name of the vendor daemon. In other words, if there is a folder named "flexsim" somewhere in the path to the flexsim.exe vendor daemon, you can get this error.
  • Your vendor daemon service needs to run with different or higher permissions.
