Update 2 - pallet racking

@phil.bobo

@Jörg Vogel

Hello guys,

1. Please help with this matter. I use the new pallet racking system. The problem is that europallet has 1.2m x 0.8m base and usually pallet racking in Europe has 1.1m in depth. How can I increase the slot space in depth (to make it 1.2m) without changing the shape of the rack (which is 1.1m deep) ? Placing strategy is "First slot with space".

2.How is it possible to place the pallet opallet-rack.jpgn the center of the slot?

Thank you in advance.

Regards,

1. You could customize the visuals on the Visualizations tab of the Storage System so that the visual rack sections only go 1.1m deep when the Rack is 1.2m deep:

(I adjusted the "back" sections of the visualization, but if you wanted the pallets to hang out of the front of the rack, you could adjust the "front" sections of the visualization instead.)

2. You can adjust the slot stacking order on the rack so that it places objects in the center. By default, it is X+, Y+, Z+. If you change it to Y+, Z+, None, then it will center it in the X direction instead of stacking in the X+ direction first.

In FlexSim 2020, you can do this much easier now by using the new Slot Padding feature on the Dimensions tab.

For example, in the image below, the Rack is 1.5 meters deep, but it can hold 2 meter items because I set the Back slot padding to -0.5. You can use the slot padding values to make the available slot space larger or smaller than the physical dimensions of the slot.
