Filter to view only an area of model?

Hello,

Anyone know if it's possible to filter to view only an area of model?

Example, i want to see only whats happening between z=0 and z=10.

Whats above z=10 and below z=0, i dont want to see.

Important detail, i have vetical movemet of objects, so i can´t simply hide object before start the simulation. Because, during it, object can go up or go down

This isn't a standard feature in FlexSim. I'm not sure I've heard of anyone doing this. What is the reason why you need to filter out certain objects?

I'm not sure my suggestions will be any good, but have you tried creating a view that only encompasses the area you're talking about? That would be my first suggestion.

My second suggestion would be to hide anything that's not in the Z-range that you described and that won't ever enter that Z-range.

In order to make it easier to build and view a model which has more than one level or floor, what I usually do is place the floors side-by-side instead of one on top of the other.

Since there is 0 delay when a flowitem travels from one object to another, it doesn't influence the working of the model.

You might have to add an extra queue to act as the exit of the elevator (for example) and then connect that queue to where the elevator is supposed to arrive on the other floor.

You can also build the entire 2nd level on a plane by dropping objects onto the plane when building the floor.

This way you can easily move the 2nd level in and out of view as needed. All while connecting the objects as I suggested earlier.

And you can hide the contents of a plane used as a container object:

Thank you guys,

I thought about filtering the viewing area because itwould not compromise vertical activities such as elevators, for example. What happens when you put floors side by side.

And hiding the planes above or below could also not be the best option since objects or people created in one plane can go up or down to another hidden plane, in this case I imagine that this object would be "flying".

So I thought that simply filter the area of space to be displayed would be easier.


But ok, I will work with the suggested alternatives.

@Lucas D4, perhaps you suggest an idea to view only an object like a plane or a group of objects. It would be a nice feature.

If your floors are each in a container (plane) then you can choose the floor's right click option "View|Down" to make the floor the viewfocus of the 3D view where nothing else is shown. Then you can open multiple of these to see multiple floors, each in an isolated view, at the same time. You can even store that isolated floor's view in ModelViews. That way you can keep the correct floor orientations relative to each other for the overall 3D view where the viewfocus is the model, so you don't have to break or add virtual distances for any paths that traverse floors.
