Shortest distance order picking

Hi!

I have created a model based on the warehouse demo (2019 Update 2 Warehouse Demo) that uses historic data to pick orders. I need some help in getting my operator to optimize the order picking by travelling the shortest distance possible with each order. Any help or tips would be greatly appreciated!

You can find my model attached.

Thanks in advance!

If you were to push all your SKUs to a list, then when picking the items you can order by the distance from the puller and use ASC or DESC as you see fit. Other strategies include ordering by the bayID of the stored item's slot.

I'm having a hard time pushing the SKUs to a list and not the physical items in the model. The model doesn't pick the orders by fetching orders and SKUs from any lists, but uses Global Table lookups. Is there any way to avoid having to incorporate lists to solve the problem?

Push the physical items and use a list with the expression for distance from puller. You can do almost anything in FlexSim but I think most other techniques will be more work.
