You are currently using an Inter-Arrival Source. This activity continuously creates tokens with a certain amount of time between tokens. If you want to create a specific number of tokens you should use the Schedule Source or Date Time Source.
A source has got three arrival styles. The standard active is interarrival time. You You can choose scheduled or arrival sequence, too. Typically you would select scheduled arrival. At time 0 you set an amount of 8 and that’s it. You can close in the OnCreation trigger the output of the Queue and the items stay at the as long as you don’t open output by another trigger for this object. You can do this by an ingoing message in the OnMessage trigger.
He's using an Inter-Arrival Source in Process Flow, not a Source in the 3D View.
